With no prior work history, Robin K. struggled to enter employment. She applied for the WIA Adult program on June 21, 2012 and was enrolled immediately July 10, 2012. With no work history or no formal training, it was recommended that Robin enter occupational skills training in order to enhance her employability.

Robin’s assessments indicated a high interest and aptitude in a humanitarian career path. She had applied at WCC for the RN program and was accepted for the program beginning August 23, 2012.

The WIA Adult program assisted Robin with supportive services such as transportation, uniforms, and required supplies. When Robin exhausted her financial aid, she was able to continue training through tuition assistance provided by WIA. Robin successfully completed her RN training and received her Associate Degree Nursing on May 9, 2014. She passed state boards and earned her RN license June 25, 2014. Robin immediately secured employment at Carillion Clinic in Christiansburg at a wage of $19.34 an hour. During the course of her enrollment on the WIA program, Robin also earned a Silver Career Readiness Certificate.

Robin’s hard work and exceptional work ethic has started her on the path to a successful future. The WIA Adult program is thankful for the opportunity to assist Robin with her career goals!
