All agencies and organizations provide priority service to all veterans. Veterans younger than 24 or those with significant barriers to employment can receive individual services from the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist.
Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP)
DVOP Specialists provide dedicated on-site services to eligible veterans and spouses to help them with their employment goals. DVOPs limit their activities to eligible veterans and spouses who meet the definition of an individual with a Significant Barrier to Employment (SBE). Such individuals could be:
- A special disabled or disabled veteran
- Homeless
- Recently separated and unemployed 27 weeks
- Ex-offender
- Lacking high school diploma or GED
- Low income
- Care taker
- A transitioning service member
The DVOP assists the veteran with all aspects of his or her job search, including resume building, interviewing, developing an Individual Employment Plan, and working with the employer to prepare them for their new employee. When needed, the DVOP will provide referrals to One Stop Partner Agencies. They also support agencies such as Wounded Warrior, the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, and the Veterans Administration. If you need these services please contact the following:
